There are various bitcoin wallet options- starting from online wallet services, mobile wallets, desktop wallets and hardware wallets. Online wallets are the third party hosted wallet services where the bitcoin is stored on the servers belonging to the bitcoin wallet service providers. The user usually doesn’t have complete control over his bitcoin deposits on online wallets.
Mobile and desktop wallets are usually software applications that are installed on the user’s local machine. The wallet application will store the users’ bitcoin locally on their devices instead of servers belonging to a third party. These wallet applications allow users more control over their digital currency in comparison to the online wallet services. However, both are vulnerable to cyber-attacks by criminals. Bitcoin hard wallets, on the other hand, are safer than other bitcoin wallets as they are standalone devices that can store bitcoin and allow its users to spend it whenever they want. Hardware bitcoin wallets are becoming smaller each passing day. Present day hardware bitcoin coin wallets can easily fit into a regular wallet without any hassle.
BitLox, a Hong Kong-based bitcoin hardware company has launched what it claims to be indestructible bitcoin wallets. Named BitLox Ultimate and BitLox Advanced, these hardware wallets come encased in a titanium shell. The company has announced the launch of these two hardened bitcoin wallets in a press release. According to the release, BitLox hardware wallets come with enhanced security and privacy features.
Users can make use of hidden bitcoin wallet feature, that allows them to hide their bitcoin deposits within the wallet. Also, it is designed to be compatible with dark net tools to allow flawless operation over the Tor network, Tails OS etc. BitLox also offers 4-layer password protection along with distress PIN on its latest wallets. One can assign different PINs for each function, reducing the possibility of someone gaining access to the wallet using any one of the PINs. The distress PIN can be used to wipe out entire data from the wallet under special circumstances to prevent others from accessing it.
Both BitLox Advanced and Ultimate are available on the company’s website for $199 and $299 respectively.
