  • Rapper Iggy Azalea has criticized Vitalik Buterin and other attendees of TOKEN2049 in Singapore.
She made her comments in a recent social media post.

    Buterin’s Performance and Azalea’s Response

Although Azalea didn’t name Buterin directly, it was apparent she was referring to him.
Buterin, who co-founded Ethereum (ETH), had performed a song about cryptocurrency on stage at TOKEN2049.
Justin Sun, the founder of Tron, tweeted a video of Buterin’s performance, praising his courage.

Azalea’s comments came after photos and videos from her crypto-themed event in Las Vegas were criticized by some members of the crypto community.
The rapper, whose real name is Amethyst Amelia Kelly, responded to the criticism with several tweets.

Azalea hosted the event to promote her meme coin, MOTHER, and her new casino, Motherland.
She suggested that the critics would be upset if they knew who attended her event.
Several members of the crypto community, including those who didn’t attend, defended Azalea.

Azalea also took the opportunity to criticize the ETH network.
She recounted an incident where a traditional finance individual seated next to her on a plane asked about ETH.
Azalea advised him to buy Solana (SOL) instead, citing its entry price and suitability for retail expansion.

Azalea further praised the Solana network for its handling of congestion.
She shared a screenshot of a Google search result stating that Solana is generally better at managing network congestion.
Azalea’s meme coin, Mother Iggy, is based on the SOL network.

MOTHER quickly gained popularity after its launch on May 29, 2024.
Within a few days, the coin’s price surged to an all-time high of $0.2406 on June 6, a 1400% increase from its all-time low of $0.004545 on May 31.
Despite losing over 70% of its value from its all-time high, MOTHER’s value has increased by over 22% in the last 24 hours.

Azalea’s feud with Buterin started when Andrew Saunders, chief marketing and growth officer of the Ethereum Virtual Machine blockchain Skale, criticized celebrity involvement in crypto.
Saunders warned holders of celebrity meme coins that they risked being dumped.
In June, Buterin also expressed dissatisfaction with celebrity meme coins, questioning how to steer things in a better direction.
