This recent acquisition brings Semler’s total Bitcoin holdings to 2,321 BTC, as disclosed in a company press release.
Bitcoin Investment Strategy
The company’s investment in Bitcoin now amounts to $191.9 million. The average acquisition cost per Bitcoin stands at $82,687. These purchases were financed through an at-the-market offering and operating cash flow.
Previously, the medical device manufacturer declared its intent to focus on increasing and maintaining its Bitcoin reserve. This decision was made after its Bitcoin holdings surpassed 1,050 BTC.
Doug Murphy-Chutorian, Semler Scientific’s CEO, reiterated in June the company’s strategy of purchasing Bitcoins using cash.
Company’s Bitcoin Reserve and Stock Performance
The company announced its initial Bitcoin treasury plans in May 2024. Following the announcement, Semler’s stock, with the ticker ‘SMLR,’ saw an increase of over 115%, according to data from Google.
As of January 10, Semler has generated $121.8 million in gross proceeds from its ATM sales. In December 2024, the company increased its ATM offering by $50 million, reaching a total of $150 million under a partnership with Cantor Fitzgerald.
