Unveiling Tether CEO's Glimpse into Future AI Applications Development

Key Points

Tether’s CEO Paolo Ardoino has given a sneak peek into the AI capabilities that the stablecoin company is currently developing, along with an AI SDK platform.

AI Capabilities in Preview

In a recent post, Ardoino shared three brief videos demonstrating the future functionality of Tether’s AI apps for desktop and mobile users. Currently, Tether is developing an AI translator, an AI voice assistant, and an AI Bitcoin wallet assistant.

The AI Bitcoin wallet assistant is designed to monitor a user’s wallet balance and carry out cryptocurrency transactions when instructed.

In the preview, the user instructs the Tether AI assistant, known as the Tether Payment Agent, to type their wallet address, disclose the amount of BTC in the wallet, and list the recipient names in their address. The user then instructs the payment agent to send 0.001 BTC to a recipient. The transaction is executed instantly, and the transaction ID is sent to the user.

AI SDK Platform

Ardoino mentioned that these AI features will be able to function locally on any device, offering users “full privacy, self-custodial (both data and money).” These apps will be integrated into Tether Data, Tether’s own AI SDK Platform.

“Tether will soon launch its own AI SDK platform, open-source, built upon Bare (Holepunch’s javascript runtime), working on every hardware,” Ardoino stated in his post. However, an official launch date for the AI platform is yet to be announced.

In December 2024, Ardoino announced that Tether plans to launch its AI platform in the first quarter of 2025. Although Tether’s stablecoin, USDT, continues to be its primary source of income, Ardoino has hinted at potential expansion into other areas, including Bitcoin mining and AI.

In March 2024, Tether created a new division dedicated to developing open-source AI models and partnering with other companies to incorporate these models into products.

“This announcement redefines AI boundaries and democratizes privacy-preserving open AI technology,” Ardoino stated.

In 2023, Tether announced that it has continued its investment in Northern Data, a cloud computing and AI startup. Ardoino expressed his intention to challenge the dominance of major tech players like Microsoft and Amazon in the AI sector.
